- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆We just paid our 2015 property taxes and were assessed a $167.11 transaction fee - presumably because we used a credit card instead of the preferred equivalent in oranges or dates or figs or whatever is passing for currency these days. $167.11 FEE TO PAY YOUR OWN BILL!! Who ARE these people? This country may take pride in its love for small government but some of the governments we do have sure make up for it by charging astronomically abusive fees for simply doing their job. I don't know where this fiscal "double jeopardy" (i.e. taxes plus fees) began but they do it with impunity when they should be fired and prosecuted for breach of public trust.By Patricia Davidson, March 13, 2017
- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆In my opinion, this county office is THE WORST with which I've ever attempted to do business. I live in California outside Riverside County and NO ONE at the Treasurer and Tax Collector's Office EVER answers the phone. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get a live person to answer questions and the menu of recorded FAQ answers is extremely general and incomplete. Even pushing 0 on the keypad does not bring live help to the phone. NOTHING does! This county office's extremely effective incoming call barriers send the message, loud and clear, that they DON'T want to talk to anyone, DON'T want to be of help nor provide any real, personal service, and they COULD NOT care less.
